A Lesson Learned

Word to the wise: When you own three cats who think your closet is their personal playground, take an extra close look at yourself before you leave the house in the morning.

For some reason I was in the mood to dig out a shirt from the depths of my closet that I haven't worn in quite a while. It's a cute black & white silk floral top from Ann Taylor. It's short sleeved, so I grabbed a jacket to wear over it (the temperature in my office building fluctuates wildly - usually somewhere between the Mojave Desert & Antartica depending on the time of day).

On my first restroom break, I happened to glance in the mirror and what do I see? A tear in the front of my shirt, held together by a couple of threads. Looking more closely, I realized it was the nefarious work of one of my kittehs. My guess is that some unknown hellcat probably used the shirt to pull himself up so they could prance along the rod.

Fortunately, the pattern in the shirt hid most of the damage and LUCKILY I decided to wear the jacket this morning. Granted, we might be "business casual" in the office, but I think wearing cat-clawed attire is taking it a bit far.

And the verdict is...

FRIDAY!

Did PFTs this morning and saw a definite improvement in #'s. Back to normal (or "baseline") and actually I think a little bit higher. As much as I hate to say it, my lungs like the prednisone. I may hate the side effects (in case you haven't figured it out yet), but it definitely does work wonders on the airbags.

I also promised one of my doctors that I'd give him a shout out on my blog. During rounds last night we laughed at the fact that he hardly even needs to come see me, he just has to read my blog to be in the know.

So, without furher adieu ...

"Hi, Dr. Y.!" [waving]

In other news, Miss Hallow Kitty is going to the vet on Friday morning. Even though she's just four months, she's decided to flaunt her womanly wiles already. Cheryl (or Alex) will have to drop her off at the vet on Friday morning and I'll be able to pick her up on Saturday morning. Then she will have the rest of the weekend to recover at my house by herself and I'll pick up the boys and bring them home on Sunday.

The Mischief Maker

Hallow Kitty is fast earning her reputation as the most notorious mischief maker in my house.

After waking up to a light dusting of snow in Birmingham last weekend, I curled up on my couch with a cup of hot chocolate and my book...

(cue reality check)

Truthfully, I was sacked out on the couch, watching TV and drinking a ginormous cup of Milo's Sweet Tea. Pretty much what I do every Saturday morning.

That first opening may have sounded nicer but since I have zero skills in the "anything that could be remotely considered domestic" category, it's pretty much a given that there is no way I'd be able to manage making hot chocolate without burning down the house. No comments from the peanut gallery, please.

Anywho.

I meandered over to my bedroom where I found this left in the wake of Hallow.

Thanks, sweetie. Mommy will get right on that task of cleaning up after you. Again.

I know everybody doesn't find my cats as entertaining as I do, but I've done so much serious writing lately about my baby sis, Lauren, that I thought some levity was in order.

A little pre-Halloween fun...

Check out my mad creative skillz (courtesy of Picnik). But the best thing? It was FREE!

My fur-babies are almost as excited as I am about Halloween. Can't you tell?
